Affective labor is when people do things to make other people feel happy or cared for. It is like doing chores around the house, but instead of cleaning or cooking, it is doing something that makes another person feel good or cared for. Examples of affective labor could be things like hugging someone when they are sad or giving someone a compliment when they have accomplished something. It can also be things like listening to a friend when they need someone to talk to, or spending time with someone who is feeling lonely.
