Affix

An affix is a special word part that we add to the beginning or end of a word to change its meaning. It's like adding a puzzle piece to a word to make it fit with other words or to give it a new meaning.

For example, let's take the word "happy". If we add the prefix "un-" to it, it becomes "unhappy", which means not happy or sad. Similarly, we can add the suffix "-ness" to the end of "happy" to turn it into "happiness", which means the state of being happy.
