Okay kiddo, so a long long time ago, there was a place called Africa. It was a part of a really big empire called Rome. Rome was like a king and had other little parts of land that were like princes. Africa was one of those little parts of land.
The Romans liked to conquer different lands and make them part of their empire. They did this to Africa too. But don't worry, the people in Africa didn't just give up without a fight. They tried to defend their land and their people. But unfortunately, the Romans were very powerful and they won the battles.
After the Romans took control of Africa, they brought their own laws and ways of life there. They also built new cities, roads, and temples. They wanted to make Africa like their own homeland in Rome.
But the people of Africa didn't forget their own culture and traditions. They still had their own way of life, their own religions, and their own languages. Even though the Romans ruled over them, they still tried to keep their own identity.
Eventually, the Roman Empire got weaker and weaker, and people in different lands started to want their independence. Africa was not any different. The people of Africa wanted to be free from Roman rule.
And you know what? They did become free eventually. The Romans went away and left Africa to its own devices. But by then, Africa had changed because of the Romans. They had brought new ideas, new buildings, and new ways of life.
So that's what happened to Africa when it was part of the Roman Empire. It was a long time ago, but we can still learn about it and how it shaped Africa into what it is today.
