African American–Jewish relations are the relationships between African Americans and Jewish people. These relationships have sometimes been strong, with African American people and Jewish people working together to bring about social and political change, and sometimes filled with tension. African Americans and Jewish people have a long history of shared goals, including working together for civil rights, as well as shared experiences of persecution and discrimination. African Americans and Jewish people have often worked together on causes such as providing equal rights for all citizens, providing social welfare to those in need, and fighting racism and discrimination. Unfortunately, there have also been conflicts in the past between African American people and Jewish people, including some miscommunication and misunderstanding. It is important to learn about and respect both the positive and negative moments in this shared history.
