African American history is the history of black people who live in America. African Americans are people with African heritage who were taken from Africa centuries ago and brought to the United States to work as slaves. Even after slavery was outlawed, African Americans faced many inequalities, like being denied equal rights, not being able to find jobs, and not being allowed to attend the same schools or live in the same places as white people. Throughout history, African Americans have worked hard to fight racism and inequality, and have made many important contributions to American society, like inventing things, leading the civil rights movement, and writing great books.
