Other women like Dorothy Height and Fannie Lou Hamer were also important leaders during the Civil Rights Movement. They helped to organize protests and rallies, spoke at events, and worked with other activists to fight for equal rights.
Even though African-American women were sometimes left out of the history books, they played a very important role in the Civil Rights Movement. They showed that women can be powerful leaders too and that everyone deserves the same rights and opportunities, no matter what color their skin is.
