Afro-Colombians

Afro-Colombians are people living in Colombia who have African ancestry. They originated from African people who were taken as slaves to Colombia during the 16th and 19th centuries. Afro-Colombians make up about 10% of the population of Colombia and are located mainly along the coasts and in some of the rural areas. They have their own culture, language, and traditions, and many of them still practice the religions of their African ancestors.
