Afro-Haitians

Afro-Haitians are people who live in a place called Haiti and they have ancestors who come from Africa. A long time ago, some people from Africa were brought to Haiti as slaves to work on farms and do other hard jobs for people who were in charge. Even though these people were treated very unfairly, they kept their culture and traditions alive and passed them down to their children and grandchildren. Today, there are many Afro-Haitians who are proud of their heritage and continue to celebrate their African roots while also being part of the Haitian community.
