ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Age of majority

Okay kiddo, when you grow up, there's gonna come a time where you are not a kid anymore and you'll be able to make decisions on your own. This is called reaching the age of majority. It's different in different places, but in most places, it's around 18 years old.

When you reach the age of majority, you're legally considered an adult and you can do things that were previously not allowed for kids. You can sign contracts, vote, buy your own stuff, get a job, choose where you want to live, and make your own choices about your life.

But remember, being an adult comes with more responsibilities, too. You have to pay your bills and taxes and you can be held accountable for breaking the law. So, it's important to be responsible and make good choices. But that's all in the future, for now, just enjoy being a kid!
