Aggressive legalism

Aggressive legalism means putting too much emphasis on following the law, even when it might not be the best thing to do. That can involve punishing people for doing something wrong - even if it was a mistake - or not giving people a chance to explain themselves before making a decision. It can also mean trying to solve problems by making more laws, instead of finding other ways to help people.
