Agriculture in the Middle Ages

Agriculture in the middle ages was when people made their own food instead of buying it from the store. In the middle ages, there weren't any big machines like we have today to help grow and harvest crops. People usually used horses, bulls, or oxen to help them plow the fields and plant the crops.

During this time, farmers usually grew things like wheat, oats, and barley to make flour for bread. They also grew vegetables like beans, peas, and carrots, and fruits like apples and pears. Sometimes, they would also raise animals like cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep for milk, meat, and wool.

Farmers had to work really hard to make sure their crops grew well. They had to water the plants, pull weeds, and protect them from animals that might try to eat them. They also had to make sure they had enough food for the animals they raised.

In the middle ages, people didn't have refrigerators like we have today, so they had to find ways to store their food. They would dry fruits and meat, make cheese, and pickle vegetables so that they would last longer.

Overall, agriculture in the middle ages was a lot of hard work, but it was necessary because people had to grow their own food to survive.
