Alban Berg
Alban Berg was a musician who lived a long time ago. He was born in Austria in the year 1885. Alban wasn't just any musician - he was a composer. That means he wrote music that people could listen to. He was really good at it too!
Now, Alban Berg wrote music that was different and special. Some people called it "expressionist" because it was really intense and emotional. It was like the music was expressing how Alban felt inside.
Alban Berg wasn't just happy all the time though. He had sad times too. One of the saddest things that happened to him was losing his friend Gustav Mahler. Gustav was also a famous composer and Alban looked up to him a lot. When Gustav died, Alban wrote a special piece of music just for him. It was called "Three Pieces for Orchestra".
Alban Berg made a lot of other really good music too. Some of his most famous pieces are "Lyric Suite" and "Wozzeck". "Wozzeck" is actually an opera, which means it's like a play, but with singing instead of talking. Alban Berg worked really hard on "Wozzeck" because he wanted it to be perfect. The story is sad, but the music is really beautiful.
Sadly, Alban Berg got sick and died when he was only 50 years old. But even though he's not with us anymore, his music still exists. People all over the world still listen to Alban Berg's music because it's really special.
