Okay, kiddo! So once upon a time, a very long time ago, Albania was part of a bigger empire called the Ottoman Empire. This empire was ruled by a Sultan who lived very far away in a place called Istanbul.
The Ottoman Empire was very powerful and they controlled many countries, including Albania. They had their own laws, customs, and traditions, which were different from those of Albanians. The Ottomans also spoke a different language than Albanians, which made it hard for them to communicate with each other.
Under the Ottoman Empire, Albania had to pay taxes to the Sultan and follow the laws that the Sultan made. The Ottomans also brought their own religion, Islam, to Albania and built mosques where people could worship. Some Albanians converted to Islam, but many of them continued to practice their own religion, Christianity.
Even though Albania was part of the Ottoman Empire, the Ottomans did not always have complete control over the country. There were many rebellions and uprisings by Albanians who wanted to be independent and have their own government. These rebellions were often led by brave Albanian leaders called "bajraktars" who fought against the Ottomans to protect their people.
Despite these struggles, Albania remained part of the Ottoman Empire for over 400 years. It was not until the early 20th century that Albania was able to declare its independence and become its own country. But even today, many Albanians still remember their history under the Ottoman Empire and how it shaped their culture and identity.
