Alberto Giacometti was a man who lived a long time ago and he was really good at making things with his hands. He liked to make sculptures, which are big and heavy objects that look like people or animals or other things. He would use materials like clay or bronze to make these sculptures.
People like Giacometti's sculptures because they look like they're moving even though they're standing still. They also have really thin and elongated arms, legs, and bodies. This means that they look like they've been stretched out, almost like they're made of spaghetti.
Giacometti was born in Switzerland and he moved to France when he was young. He had a lot of artist friends and they all hung out together in a place called Montparnasse. They would talk about art and make things together.
Later in his life, Giacometti became famous for his sculptures and people would pay a lot of money for them. He didn't like to talk about why he made his sculptures look the way they did, but some people think it was because he wanted to show how small people can feel in the world or how hard it is to really see someone else.
Even though Giacometti isn't alive anymore, people still like his sculptures and they are on display in museums all over the world.
