Alhóndiga (building)

An "alhóndiga" is a special kind of building that was used a long time ago to store things like food, grain, and other important items. Think of it like a big closet or pantry where people could keep all of their important belongings. These buildings were sometimes really big and fancy, and were built with special features to keep things safe, like big doors that could lock, and sometimes even special rooms built underground to keep things cool and dry. Nowadays, people don't use alhóndigas to store things anymore, but you can still find some very old ones in certain parts of the world that were built many years ago.
