Alpine garden

An alpine garden is a special kind of garden where we grow small plants that are used to living in the mountains. You know how when we go on a hike in the mountains we see all kinds of little plants and flowers growing between the rocks? Those are the kinds of plants we grow in an alpine garden.

These plants like to grow in places with lots of sun, but it's also very cold where they come from. So, we have to make sure our alpine garden has good drainage and we use special soil that has a lot of sand and stones to help the water drain away. This helps to mimic the kind of conditions these plants are used to in their natural homes in the mountains.

In our alpine garden, we might have tiny little flowers that are purple or yellow, tiny little succulents that look like little rosettes, or even little ferns that like to grow in cold places. And because these plants are so small, we can have a lot of them in a very small space!

So, when we go to an alpine garden, it's like taking a little trip to the mountains without ever leaving our backyard.
