Aluminium alloy inclusions

So, let's pretend we are talking about toys. Sometimes when you are playing with toys, you might find little pieces of stuff like dirt, sand or rocks that got mixed up with your toys by accident.

Well, the same thing happens with aluminium, but instead of dirt or rocks, we call them inclusions. Inclusions are tiny particles that can be found in aluminium alloys, which are special mixtures of metals that make the aluminium stronger and better for building things.

But not all inclusions are good for the aluminium alloy. Some inclusions can make the aluminium weaker, or cause it to break easier, like if you have a toy that has a little rock stuck in it. These unwanted inclusions can show up when the aluminium is being made, or can accidentally sneak in when it's being used to make something else.

That's why scientists and engineers work really hard to take out the bad inclusions and keep in the good ones, so that the aluminium stays strong and safe for everything from airplanes to soda cans!
