Ambrose of Optina

Ambrose of Optina was an important figure in Russian Orthodoxy, a church that follows the Christian faith. He was an important monk who lived in Optina, a village in Russia, from 1812 to 1891. He is remembered for his great wisdom and spiritual teachings, and also for his visions which were said to be correct. He was a leader of Optina Monastery and people came from far away to visit him for spiritual guidance and advice. He wrote many books and enjoyed a long life, passing away at the age of 79. To this day, some people still consider him a saint and remember him for his ideas and teachings.
