ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

American Association of Snowboard Instructors

The American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) is a group of people who know a lot about snowboarding and teach others how to do it too. Just like how you have a teacher at school who helps you learn things, AASI instructors are like teachers for snowboarding. They are very good at it and have lots of experience!

When you go to a ski resort and want to learn how to snowboard, you might sign up for a lesson with an AASI instructor. They will teach you all about snowboarding, like how to put on your gear, how to stand on the board, and how to move around on the snow. They will also show you how to do some cool tricks!

The AASI instructors have a special way of teaching called the "snowboard teaching system." It is a step-by-step process that helps people of all ages and skill levels learn how to snowboard safely and confidently. They take into consideration things like how old you are, how good you are at other sports, and how much experience you have on the snow.

In order to become an AASI instructor, you have to go through a lot of training and practice. You need to know a lot about snowboarding and how to teach it. You also have to be very patient and good at explaining things to people. Once you become an AASI instructor, you can teach at ski resorts all over the United States and even in other countries.

So, in a nutshell, AASI is a group of very talented snowboarders who love to teach others how to snowboard too!
