ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

American Forces Network

The American Forces Network (AFN) is a TV and radio service that provides entertainment and news to members of the United States military stationed overseas.

Just like how mommy and daddy have cable TV at home, military members also have TVs and radios at their bases. But when they are stationed in other countries, they can't always watch American TV shows or listen to American music because the local TV stations and radio stations might not speak English or have American programming.

That's where AFN comes in! It's like a special TV and radio station just for the military, so they can still watch their favorite shows and listen to their favorite songs from back home, even if they're really far away.

AFN also provides news, sports, and other important information to the military. So if there's a big event happening back home, they can tune into AFN and find out what's going on.

Overall, AFN is a way to keep military members connected to their homes and families, even when they are far away on a mission overseas.
