American Friends Service Committee

The American Friends Service Committee is a group of people who want to make the world a better place. They believe that everyone should be treated the same, no matter what they look like or where they come from. They try to help people who are having a hard time, like if they are sick or hungry or if they are scared because of something bad happening in their country.

The American Friends Service Committee started a long time ago, in 1917. Some people were fighting in a really big war and they wanted to help the people who were hurt by the war. They also wanted to stop the war from happening again. So they started a group to help people and spread the message of peace.

The American Friends Service Committee still helps people today. They work in many different countries around the world. They help with things like building schools, giving people food and medicine, and making sure that peoples’ rights are protected. They also help with things like making sure that people’s voices are heard and trying to make the world a safer place for everyone.

People who are part of the American Friends Service Committee are called “Quakers”. They believe in being peaceful and helping others. They also believe in not fighting, even when things get really hard. They want to make the world a happier, safer place for everyone, just like you want to make your school or your home a happier, safer place too.
