Amoebaean singing

Okay, so you know when you play with Play-Doh and you can squish and mold it into whatever shapes you want? Well, amoebas are tiny living things that can do that with their bodies! But instead of Play-Doh, they use their own flesh.

Now, sometimes when amoebas move around and change their shape, they make a sound. It's sort of like when you rub your hands together and it makes a swishing noise.

Scientists have studied these sounds and have found out that some amoeba species make singing sounds! It's kind of like when you sing a song: you make different notes and sounds with your voice to make it sound pretty.

But, unlike us, amoebas don't have a voice box or a mouth to make sounds. So, they use their body movements to create different pitches and tones, which can sound like singing.

So, when you hear about amoebaean singing, it's just tiny living things using their bodies to make sounds that sound a little bit like singing, even though they don't have a voice box.
