Amphora

An amphora is a special kind of jar that the ancient Greeks and Romans used to carry things in. It was big and sturdy, and had a narrow neck with two handles on either side of it. The shape was often like a vase or urn. People would put different things in the amphora depending on what they needed to carry. The Greeks used it to carry wine, oil, and water. The Romans used it to carry things like grain and fruit. It was important because it helped keep things safe and secure while they were being moved around. It was kind of like a backpack or a suitcase, but made out of clay or ceramic. Nowadays, people still make amphoras but they are often used more for decoration than for carrying things.
