Ancient music
Hello there! Today we are going to talk about ancient music, which means music that was made a really long time ago by people who lived before us.
In ancient times, people didn't have the same kinds of instruments that we have today, like guitars or pianos. Instead, they made music using things like drums, flutes made out of reeds, and stringed instruments made out of animal guts.
People made music for lots of different reasons. Sometimes it was to celebrate something happy, like a wedding or a new baby being born. Other times, music was used to tell stories or to help people remember important things. And sometimes, people made music just because it was fun!
Even though we can't hear exactly what ancient music sounded like because nobody was recording it back then, we can still learn a lot about it from things like old paintings and carvings that show people playing instruments, as well as from written descriptions of music from that time.
Isn't it cool to think about how people have been making music for thousands of years, even though the instruments and styles have changed a lot over time? Who knows what kind of music people will be making thousands of years from now!
