Aneutronic fusion

So, you know how the sun is super hot and bright and gives us light and warmth? Well, it's because the sun is constantly doing something called fusion. That's when its hydrogen atoms combine to make helium and release a bunch of energy in the process.

Scientists are trying to make their own fusion power because it's a really clean and efficient way to make energy. One type of fusion that they're working on is called aneutronic fusion.

Aneutronic fusion is when different types of atoms come together to make a new type of atom and release energy, but there are no neutrons left over. You've heard of protons and electrons, right? Well, in aneutronic fusion, the protons from one atom smush together with the neutrons from another atom, and they make a completely new type of atom.

The coolest part about aneutronic fusion is that it produces hardly any harmful waste, and it's really efficient. That means we could use it to power things like cars and homes without polluting the environment as much.

But, it's still really hard to make happen on Earth. Scientists are still trying to figure out how to get the atoms to fuse together and give off enough energy to be useful for our needs. But, if they can figure it out, it could be a major breakthrough!
