The Anglo-Saxon economy was an economic system used in England from the 5th century until the Norman Conquest in 1066. This economy mostly used bartering and trading goods instead of money. People would trade goods with their neighbors for things like animals, food, clothing, or tools. They also worked together to produce goods like leather and metal goods. Most of the people had small farms that they used to grow food or keep animals like cows, sheep, and pigs. They sold the products they made at markets and fairs in exchange for money or goods they needed.
