Angostura bitters

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes grown-ups like to have fancy drinks with a little bit of flavor in them? Well, one kind of flavor that can go into drinks is something called "bitters."

Bitters are basically a special mix of various herbs and spices that have a really strong taste, so you only need a little bit to add a lot of flavor. One brand of bitters that a lot of people like to use is called Angostura bitters.

Angostura bitters were first made a long time ago in a place called Angostura in Venezuela. The people who made them wanted to make a medicine that could help with all kinds of different problems, like stomach aches, hiccups, and even malaria!

But then people started using these bitters in their drinks instead of just taking them as medicine. They found that the strong taste of the bitters could make drinks taste better, and even help settle their stomachs after eating a big meal.

So nowadays, you can find Angostura bitters (and other kinds of bitters, too!) in all kinds of fancy cocktails and drinks. They just add a little extra something that makes your drink taste really special!
