ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Animated series

An animated series is like a TV show, but instead of real people acting, it's drawings or computer images of people, animals or things that move and talk. Think of it as a big storybook with pictures that come to life on your TV screen.

You know how cartoons are like short movies with one story? Animated series are longer than that, and their storyline takes up many episodes. For example, a popular animated series like SpongeBob SquarePants has over a dozen seasons, and each season has more than twenty episodes!

In animated series, each episode can be a separate, standalone story, or a portion of a more extensive story. Most of the times, there's usually an overarching storyline that runs through all the episodes, and we get to find out what happens over time.

Animated series are often made for children as they are colorful, fun to watch, and sometimes contain valuable lessons while entertaining. However, some animated series, like The Simpsons or Family Guy, are for older people and have more mature content.

In summary, an animated series is just like a long storybook with pictures that come to life on your TV screen, sometimes with a lesson, and sometimes made for older people.
