Anointing of the Sick in the Catholic Church

Okay, kiddo, so sometimes when you're not feeling very well, you might need to go to the doctor to get medicine or get better, right? Well, in the Catholic Church, if someone is really sick, they can also ask a priest to come and pray for them and bless them with special oils. This is called the "anointing of the sick."

The priest brings some special oils to the person's home or hospital room. First, he prays for them and asks God to help them feel better. Then he puts some of the special oils on the person's forehead and hands while saying some special words.

The oils are like a special medicine that help the person feel better not just physically, but spiritually too. It's like a way to tell God that the person is really sick and needs extra help.

This special prayer and anointing can be done one time or multiple times. And it's not just for people who are dying, but for anyone who is really sick or about to have surgery.

So that's what the anointing of the sick is all about in the Catholic Church. It's a special way that people can ask for prayers and blessings when they're not feeling well.
