Anorexia mirabilis

Anorexia mirabilis is a condition where a person intentionally tries to lose a lot of weight in a very short period of time. The word "anorexia" means that the person has a strong fear of gaining weight or becoming overweight, and "mirabilis" means "amazing" or "extraordinary" in Latin.

People with anorexia mirabilis often eat very little, sometimes only a few hundred calories per day, and may even go without food for long periods of time. This can cause severe health problems, including malnutrition, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and even organ failure.

Anorexia mirabilis is often seen as a form of extreme dieting or "body hacking," where people try to achieve a certain body shape or weight by any means necessary. However, it is important to realize that this behavior can be very dangerous and should be taken seriously.

If you or someone you know is struggling with anorexia mirabilis, it is important to seek help from a qualified healthcare professional. Treatment may include a combination of medical care, counseling, and behavioral therapy to address both the physical and psychological aspects of the condition.
