When some animals become prey for other animals, they have to protect themselves. Sometimes they develop special ways to do this, which is called anti-predator adaptation.
Think of it like a superhero putting on a special suit to protect themselves from danger. Animals might do things like change their color to blend in with their surroundings, grow spikes or poison to warn predators to stay away, or play dead to fool predators into thinking they're not alive.
For example, chameleons are very good at changing their colors to match their environment. This helps them blend in with their surroundings and makes them harder for predators to see. Some caterpillars have spiky hairs that stick out and make it hard for predators to eat them. And some snakes have venom that can make predators very sick if they try to attack them.
There are many different types of anti-predator adaptations, and they can be used to protect all kinds of animals from all kinds of predators. But with these adaptations, animals can feel safer and more protected from danger in their environment.
