ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anticipatory socialization

Anticipatory socialization is when you do something to prepare yourself for a new role or situation. It might look like practicing how you want to act in the new role or situation. It's like getting ready for something new. An example might be when someone is about to start a new job. They might practice how they want to interact with their new colleagues or go over the job expectations. Doing this can help them get ready and make it easier to adjust to the new role.
