Antiestrogen

Okay kiddo, so you know how boys and girls are different right? Well, one of the things that makes boys boys and girls girls is something called hormones. Boys have a hormone called testosterone, and girls have a hormone called estrogen.

Estrogen is a really important hormone for girls and women. It makes sure that their bodies grow and change the way they're supposed to. But sometimes, there can be too much estrogen in a person's body. This can happen for a lot of different reasons, but one reason is because of something called cancer. Cancer is a big, bad thing that can grow inside a person's body and make them really sick.

One kind of cancer that affects girls and women is called breast cancer. Breast cancer is when there are cancer cells growing in the woman's breast. Sometimes, these cancer cells need estrogen in order to grow and get bigger.

That's where antiestrogen comes in. Anti- means "against," and estrogen is the hormone that we want to work against in this case. So, antiestrogen is a medicine that helps to "fight" or "block" the estrogen in a person's body. This can help to stop the cancer cells in the breast from growing and getting bigger.

So, even though estrogen is really important, sometimes we want to try and slow it down a little bit to help girls and women fight cancer. Antiestrogen is one way that we can do that.
