ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Antipodal point

Okay kiddo, imagine a big globe - like a really big ball. Now, let's say you pick a point on this globe - let's call it Point A. Every point on the globe has a friend, but not just any friend, a very special friend who is the exact opposite of them. This special friend is called the antipodal point.

So, if you were standing on Point A and you decided to dig a hole all the way through the earth to the other side, you would come out at a spot that is exactly opposite to Point A. That's your antipodal point.

Now, let's say you had a friend who was also standing on Point A, and you both started digging holes to your respective antipodal points. You would end up digging through the same spot in the middle of the earth because your antipodal points meet in the middle.

So, to summarize, every point on a globe has a special friend on the other side of the globe, and these friends are called antipodal points. If you dig a hole straight through the earth from one point, you'll end up at your antipodal point on the opposite side of the globe.
