Antoine-Augustin Parmentier was a man from a long time ago who really liked potatoes. He thought potatoes were super cool and wanted everyone to eat potatoes because they were healthy and good for you.
But back then, lots of people didn't like potatoes. They thought potatoes were gross and only for poor people. But Parmentier was determined to change people's minds about potatoes.
So, he did a really smart thing. He pretended that potatoes were super special and he planted a whole bunch of potato fields. Then, he put guards around the potato fields to make it look like the potatoes were really important and valuable.
People got really curious about the potatoes and wanted to know why they were so special. So, Parmentier invited important people to try the potatoes and he made all kinds of fancy potato dishes.
Pretty soon, everyone wanted to eat potatoes! All because of Parmentier's sneaky plan. Today, lots of people still love potatoes and we have Parmentier to thank for helping us see how great they are.
