Apartheid legislation in South Africa

Apartheid was a system in South Africa which involved separating different types of people into different groups based on their skin color. White people were treated better than black people and were given more rights and better opportunities than black people. The government made laws, or legislation, which made sure that this separation happened and that white people were given more advantages than black people, even though they were equal. This meant that black people couldn’t vote in elections, they were made to go to separate schools and live in different areas to white people. This unfair system of separation was called apartheid and it is now no longer allowed in South Africa.
