ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aphasiology

Aphasiology is the study of disorders that affect the ability to understand, produce, and use language. People who have aphasia have trouble with certain language skills, like understanding what someone says, or speaking in words or sentences. They might also have trouble with reading, writing, and hearing. Aphasia can be caused by stroke or injury to the brain, or by certain diseases, like dementia. Researchers study aphasia to learn more about how language works in the brain and find better ways to help people with aphasia.
