Apostasy in Judaism

Apostasy in Judaism is when someone stops believing in Jewish traditions or stops practicing the religion. People who do this are sometimes called apostates. It is a serious offense in the Jewish faith, because of the importance of staying faithful to God and following Jewish laws and customs. In some cases, apostates may be excommunicated from the faith, meaning that they can no longer be part of the Jewish community.
