So in the New Testament of the Bible, there are these special guys called apostles. An apostle is someone who is chosen by Jesus to be his messenger and spread his teachings to other people. It's kind of like being chosen for a really important job, like a superhero or a secret agent.
There were 12 apostles who were with Jesus during his time on earth. They went with him wherever he went, learned from him, and helped spread his message. Their names were Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (the son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon and Judas Iscariot.
Even after Jesus died and went to heaven, the apostles continued his work. They went out around the world to tell people about Jesus, heal the sick, and baptize people into the Christian faith. They were really brave and did some amazing things, like raising people from the dead and speaking in languages they didn't even know before.
So apostles are really important because they helped spread the Christian faith all around the world. They were like Jesus' special messengers, and without them, we might not know about Jesus and his love for us today.
