Appeal to probability

Appeal to probability means believing something is true just because it could happen. For example, someone might say, "I don't need to wear my seatbelt because the chances of getting in a car accident are very low." This is not a good reason to not wear a seatbelt because accidents can still happen and it's safer to be prepared. Just because something is possible doesn't mean it's likely or you should ignore precautions. So always be safe and prepared, even if the chances of something bad happening seem low.
