ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Applied academics

Applied academics is like learning by doing. It means that instead of just reading and listening to what teachers say, students get to use what they learn in real life situations. It's like playing with your toys, but instead of just looking at them, you get to use them to make something cool!

For example, instead of just learning about math in a textbook, you might learn how to use math to figure out how much paint you need to paint a room. Or instead of just reading about science, you might do an experiment to see how plants grow in different types of soil.

So, applied academics is when you learn things in a fun and hands-on way, so you can understand better and actually use what you learn in real life situations.
