April 2013 ricin letters

In April 2013, some letters were sent to the President of the United States, some senators, and some other officials. These letters had a very dangerous poison called ricin inside them. Ricin can make people very sick or even kill them.

The person who sent these letters was trying to scare or hurt people. The police had to work very hard to find out who sent the letters and catch them. It took a long time but eventually, they found the person responsible and they were arrested. No one was hurt by the poison in the letters.
