Aquaculture Stewardship Council

Okay kiddo, so you know how we like to eat fish right? But sometimes, there are too many people who want to eat fish, and not enough fish in the ocean for us to catch. That's where the aquaculture stewardship council comes in.

The aquaculture stewardship council or ASC for short, is a special group of people who make sure that the fish we eat are raised in a good way. Just like how we take good care of our pets and make sure they have food, water, and a clean place to live, the ASC makes sure that the fish in fish farms are taken care of too.

Fish farms are kind of like big ponds or pools where fish are raised. The ASC checks to make sure that the fish in these farms are healthy and happy, and that the farms don't hurt the environment around them. They also make sure that the people who work in the fish farms treat the fish kindly and don't harm them.

When a fish farm meets all of the ASC's rules and regulations, they get a special stamp of approval from the ASC. This tells us that the fish from that farm are good to eat, and that when we eat them, we aren't hurting the environment or the fish.

So, in short, the aquaculture stewardship council makes sure that the fish we eat are raised in a healthy and sustainable way, and doesn't harm the environment or the fish themselves.
