Aramaic primacy

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the Bible before? Well, it's a very old book that lots of people believe is very important, and it tells stories about God and Jesus and other important figures.

Now, when the Bible was first written, it wasn't in English like we speak now. It was actually written in a bunch of different languages, including Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.

Aramaic primacy is the idea that one of those languages, Aramaic, was actually the first language that the Bible was written in. Some people believe this because Aramaic was a very common language in the part of the world where the Bible takes place, and some of the original manuscripts (which are like the very first copies of the Bible) were written in Aramaic.

But not everyone agrees with the idea of Aramaic primacy. Some people think that the Bible was actually first written in Hebrew, and that the Aramaic manuscripts were translations from the Hebrew. Others think that both Aramaic and Hebrew were used together to write the Bible.

So, just like lots of things in life, there are lots of different opinions on this topic!
