ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Arne Næss

Arne Næss is a person who lived a long time ago and did a lot of thinking about how people should live with nature. He believed that it was very important for people to take care of the environment around them and not harm it. He also thought that it was important for people to live in a way that made them happy, and that this would help them to take care of the environment even better.

Næss thought that everyone should think about the environment and how to take care of it. He believed that the world was like a big puzzle and that we all needed to work together to fit the pieces together. He thought that one of the most important things we could do was to be very respectful of all the animals and plants around us. He also believed that we needed to be careful about using up too much of the earth’s resources, like water or air or land, because we don't want to run out of these things.

In order to help people live in a way that was good for the environment and that made them happy, Næss came up with something called deep ecology. This is a way of thinking that encourages people to be connected to nature and to see themselves as part of the natural world. It means that we should all work together to make sure that the earth stays healthy and that we treat all living things with respect.

So, even though it can be hard to understand, Arne Næss was a person who really cared about the environment and wanted everyone to help take care of it. He believed that if we all work together and respect nature, we can create a happier world for ourselves and for all the living things that share our planet.
