Arrangements between railroads

When you want to go somewhere far away, like on a big adventure, sometimes you take a train. But sometimes the train you need to take can't go all the way to where you want to go. So, the train company you are using talks to another train company to see if they can work together to get you where you want to go. This is called an arrangement between railroads. Think of it like making a deal with your friend to share their toys. The different train companies make rules and agree to share tracks, so you can take one train to a hub, then switch to another train to get where you want to go. This makes it easier for you to get where you want to go, even if it takes a little more time.
