Ashlar

Okay buddy, so let me tell you about something called ashlar. Have you ever seen the walls of a big fancy building or castle? They're made up of a lot of little stones, right? Well, sometimes those little stones are made to fit together just right so that they look super smooth and neat. That's what ashlar is all about!

See, when people building something really important - like a palace or a temple - they want it to look really special. So they get masons (that's a fancy word for people who work with rocks) to cut all these little stones so they can fit together perfectly. They make sure the corners meet up, and that all the stones are the same size and shape.

When they're done, the wall looks really nice and smooth, because the stones are all so even. That's what they call an ashlar wall. It's like a big puzzle, but instead of fitting together with just any pieces, all the stones are made to fit just right. Pretty neat, huh?
