ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ashura

Ashura is a special day for some Muslims where they remember and honor the story of a man named Imam Hussain who stood up for what he believed in even though it was really hard.

A long time ago, Imam Hussain was asked to be the leader of a group of people who believed in helping others and being kind. However, some other leaders didn't like him and wanted to take away his power. So they had a big fight called a battle, but Imam Hussain and his friends were outnumbered and many of them were hurt or killed.

Even though it was really sad, Imam Hussain didn't give up. He kept trying to help his friends and stood up for what he believed in. This is why some Muslims remember him on Ashura and try to be kind and helpful to others just like he was.
