Assume a can opener

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a can of soup or beans? It's a metal container that has food inside it. Now, in order to get to the yummy food inside, we need to open it with a special tool called a can opener.

A can opener has two parts - a blade and a gear. The blade is sharp and can cut through the top of the can. The gear is what helps us turn the can opener around the can to cut it open.

First, we need to attach the can opener to the top of the can. We do this by placing the small blade on top of the can and pressing down on the handle. This locks the blade onto the can.

Next, we spin the gear around the can by turning the handle. As we spin the gear, the sharp blade cuts through the metal lid of the can. We keep turning the handle until the blade has cut all the way around the top of the can.

Finally, we lift the can opener off the top of the can and use our fingers to pull the lid off. And now we can enjoy the delicious food inside the can, all thanks to our trusty can opener!
