Astronomy in medieval Islam

Ok, so in the olden times there were people who lived in a place called Islam. They were very interested in the sky and stars and everything else up there. They wanted to understand how everything in the sky worked and why it was there.

So they came up with a thing called astronomy. Astronomers would study the sky and use their special tools to watch and measure the stars and planets. They would then use that information to make predictions about what would happen in the sky in the future.

In Islam, they were very good at astronomy. They built special buildings called observatories where they could go and study the sky. They also did lots of experiments and made many important discoveries about the sky and stars.

They believed that the planets moved around the Earth in circles and they gave many of the stars special names. They even made a special book called the "Book of Fixed Stars" where they wrote about all the stars they could see and gave them special meanings.

Overall, astronomy was very important in Islam and many people studied it to try and understand more about the sky and everything up there.
